Connecting with our Naturehood

Nature is all around us, but even the most observant people often pass by too quickly to take notice. Our communities are more than ‘just us’ and include all of the species that reside alongside us — these are our “naturehoods”. Creating deeper connections with our naturehood through sketchbook journaling is a simple and accessible way to discover details most people will never see. The more we engage with nature through a sketchbook, the more nature seemingly engages with us. Sketchbook journaling is not about making “perfect” pictures. It is a tool that provides the space to be curious, ask questions and engage in a personal, meaningful way with nature around us. These are a few recent sketchbook pages from parks around Metro Vancouver.

Nature is my source of inspiration. She has endless, fascinating stories to tell — stories that we all need to hear.
